PUTRAJAYA, Dec 23 — The lorry operator’s licence of Mun Entreprises, has been revoked with immediate effect after one of its lorries was involved in a fatal accident in Gerik, Perak on October 29.

The Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) in a statement here today said the action was taken after the company failed in the Road Transport Department’s (RTD) Inspection and Safety Audit (JISA) session, apart from having previous records of offences involving road user safety.

“Action has been taken under Section 57 (1)(b)(x) and Seksyen 58 (1)(b) of the Land Public Transport Act 2010 (Act 715),” it said.

In the accident on October 29, a baby was killed after the lorry laden with white ceiling material crashed into other vehicles on the opposite lane at a bend at KM69 of the East-West Expressway near Gerik.

The lorry driver was reported to have been arrested at a roadblock in Batu Melintang in Jeli, Kelantan, on the same day.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke was also reported as saying that the lorry operator’s licence of the company was temporarily suspended and that the RTD and APAD had been instructed to conduct an audit on the company’s fleet of lorries. — Bernama
