KUALA LUMPUR, June 30 — Former Negeri Sembilan Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan has won the Umno deputy presidency.
The Rembau born 62-year-old went up against party supreme council member Tan Sri Annuar Musa.
In a press conference, party secretary general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor confirmed that Mohamad won the deputy post.
“Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan has garnered 110 votes while Tan Sri Annuar Musa garnered 47 votes,” he said.
Mohamad was Negri Sembilan MB since 2004 and is also the Rembau Umno division chief.
Prior to his MB post, Mohamad was prominent corporate figure and was the Cycle & Carriage Bintang managing director before his foray into politics.
Mohamad was the first member of parliament who retain his seat of Rembau after he won it uncontested in the 14th general elections.
