BANGKOK, May 31 — A Malaysian who was arrested in Thailand two days ago for allegedly orchestrating a brutal murder in Johor, Malaysia last December may be extradited as early as next week.
According to a source, the extradition process for the 36-year-old Johor-born man will be completed next week to enable him to face justice in a Malaysian court.
“His wife will also be extradited from Thailand,” he told Bernama here today.
The man was alleged to have masterminded the murder of a 44-year-old man known as ‘Ah Chiu’ who was repeatedly stabbed and mowed down by a white BMW driven by a man, accompanied by his cohorts at a petrol station in Taman Pelangi, Johor Baru on December 17.
Initial police investigations revealed the killing was linked to secret society members who escaped to Thailand.
The Malaysian police then contacted their Thai counterparts for assistance to track down the assailants and the suspected mastermind.
It was learnt that the suspected mastermind and his wife entered Thailand not long after the murder but his freedom was short-lived when he was nabbed by Thai police three days ago, along with his wife in Chaiyaphum province, northeast Thailand. — Bernama
