SANDAKAN, May 22 — Warisan today played down claims that members of parliament from the party have been appointed as federal ministers and deputy ministers.

Its permanent chairman Datuk Liew Vui Keong said there was no truth in the news best described as fake.

News circulating in social media allegedly states that Liew and others have been appointed to the Federal Cabinet.

“This is totally untrue. To put the record straight, our Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has not named the second batch of his Cabinet line-up that is largely to be MPs from Sabah and Sarawak.

“What happened yesterday at Istana Negara was the swearing in of the first batch of the Cabinet line-up. I was present there in my capacity as Warisan’s permanent chairman together with our deputy president Darrel Leiking, the MP for Penampang.

“Our presence was to represent our president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal and Parti Warisan at the swearing in ceremony of the first batch of Federal Cabinet Ministers at Istana Negara,” he said in a statement, today.

Liew said he was made to understand that the swearing in of the second batch of federal cabinet ministers involving both Sabah and Sarawak MPs would be held in about two weeks’ time or earlier. — Bernama
