PASIR MAS, May 5 ― The Kelantan police in collaboration with other enforcement agencies will step up security control at the Kelantan-Thailand border to ensure no infiltration of undesirable elements ahead of the 14th general election (GE14) on May 9.
State police chief Datuk Hasanuddin Hassan said they would also be focusing on the movement of militant groups and individuals likely to have dual citizenship.
“We will pay close attention to the movement of militant groups following the arrest of individuals suspected to be Daesh militants in the state recently.
“We have also received information on the presence of people with dual citizenship as we fear they may affect the election process in the country,” he told reporters after visiting the Rantau Panjang Customs, Immigration, Quarantine and Security Complex (CIQS) here today.
He said the move to beef up border security would also be undertaken by security agencies of neighbouring countries. ― Bernama
