KUALA LUMPUR, May 3 — Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad today questioned local authorities who ruled out elements of foul play in the flight that he was supposed to have boarded to Langkawi recently.
“How can they be so sure as to say it didn’t happen? None of them went to see it for themselves. Check your facts before saying such things,” said Dr Mahathir in a ceramah that was attended by close to 2,000 people at the playground of PPR Kerinchi today.
The crowd cheered “We love Tun” as he walked in at 9pm with his wife, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali.
It took him at least 20 minutes to walk in and make it to the stage as many tried to push their way forward to greet the former prime minister and his wife.
Dr Mahathir said he is not worried that he is being investigated under the fake news law over the alleged flight sabotage incident
“Some may think that I am worried that I will be arrested, but I am not. I know if I am arrested more people will come out to vote,” he said, drawing loud applause from the crowd.
Dr Mahathir also chided caretaker deputy prime minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi for claiming there were plans by the Opposition to get him admitted to hospital.
“It was said that I will be warded in hospital during the elections to gain sympathy votes, now that is fake news.
“I don’t need to be hospitalised. He should come here and see the support,” he said.
