SEBERANG PERAI, April 25 — Penang Front Party (PFP) will be joining the fray this general election for one parliamentary and 13 state seats, making it a multi-cornered fight for all seats.
PFP president Datuk Patrick Ooi, who announced the list of candidates today, said the party had chosen candidates from various professions.
“I will be contesting the Batu Kawan parliamentary seat and Perai state seat,” he said.
He said an independent candidate from the 2013 elections, Wan Balkis Wan Abdullah will be contesting under PFP at the Machang Bubuk state seat this time.
“Our candidates include youths and women from different professions and we want to provide a challenge to the other parties, especially Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan,” he said.
PFP secretary Lee Poh Kong will be contesting the Berapit state seat while the party’s two women candidates, Ong Yin Yin and Daphne Edward, will be contesting the Sungai Puyu and Jawi state seats respectively.
The other seats that PFP is contesting are Bagan Jermal, Bagan Dalam, Padang Lallang, Bukit Tengah, Bukit Tambun, Datuk Keramat, Batu Uban and Pantai Jerejak.
Ooi also launched the PFP manifesto for Penang promising to turn Balik Pulau into an Asian education hub.
The party also pledged to turn the island part of the state into a tax-free zone to attract more tourists.
“We will also turn Pulau Jerejak into an entertainment city complete with a water theme park, jungle challenge track, hotel, luxurious restaurant and an elite club,” he said.
They also pledged to build 10,000 units of RM100,000 affordable housing.
