BESUT, April 19 ― A Yemeni student of Limkokwing University of Creative Technology was found drowne at Pulau Perhentian Kecil yesterday.

Besut district police chief Supt Mohd Zamri Mohd& Rowi, who identified the victim as Abkar Maged Mahmood Mohammed, 24, was on holiday with 12 friends on the island and was scheduled to return to Kuala Lumpur today or tomorrow.

“He was alleged to have gone swimming in the sea with a friend and then got into difficulties and disappeared,” he said in a statement today.

Mohd Zamri said the body was found on the sea bed near Pantai Peranginan Long Beach, Pulau Perhentian Kecil, by a search and rescue team at about 2.20pm.

The body had been sent to the Besut District Hospital for post mortem.

It is learnt that the Embassy of Yemen had been informed of the incident. ― Bernama
