KUALA LUMPUR, April 17 — With his advanced age, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad should focus on serving people at 1Malaysia clinics instead of running for public office again, Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang said.
The PAS president said he was curious that at 92, the Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman was still politically active and was still fond of commenting on everything from religion to politics, adding that the latter was to be “pitied”, Malay daily Kosmo! reported today.
“He should be a doctor working at 1Malaysia clinics providing free treatment for charity,” Hadi was quoted saying.
The PH pact comprises Dr Mahathir’s Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, DAP, PKR and PAS splinter Parti Amanah Negara.
Dr Mahathir was named as the pact’s Langkawi candidate for the coming 14th general elections on May 9.
He has also been named the PH’s prime ministerial candidate if the Opposition alliance wins the polls.
PAS had formerly been an ally until it cut ties with PKR and DAP in mid 2015, resulting in the end of their alliance then known as Pakatan Rakyat. The PH pact formed after that.
