PETALING JAYA, Feb 28 ― Several local celebrities have voiced their support for Noor Neelofa Mohd Noor after the actress-turned-entrepreneur was hit with criticism over launching her new line of headscarves and turbans at Zouk Kuala Lumpur.
Director Erma Fatima and Malaysian Artiste Association president Zed Zaidi were among the notable personalities rallying around Neelofa and telling the latter to ignore her critics, Malay daily Berita Harian reported today.
They believe the actress who stars in Suri Hati Mr Pilot had valid reasons for hosting the event at the premises.
“I hope netizens won’t act as God to judge others.
“It may be a marketing strategy to launch the turban collection at an entertainment centre, there is nothing wrong with having an event at an entertainment centre.”
“It is similar to having an event at a hotel, as long as there isn’t any alcohol or immoral activities being carried out,” the Malay daily quoted Erma Fatima as saying.
The report also cited that Zed and the event host, Daphne Iking echoed Erma’s sentiments.
“There were no alcohol-related posters or cigarettes, guests were not allowed to smoke at the event, only posters on the launch were hung,” Daphne was quoted saying.
The same newspaper also reported both Perak mufti Tan Sri Harussani Zakaria and Negri Sembilan mufti Datuk Mohd Yusof Ahmad telling Neelofa to repent and not repeat the same “vice” again.
