SHAH ALAM, Jan 27 — A lorry workshop proprietor fought off a gunman who attempted to abduct him in Kuala Langat early this morning.
The gunman tried to drag Tew Kim Chai, 60, into a car but the latter overpowered him and walked away.
He then fired a warning shot in the direction of the road before escaping in a car in the 2.40am incident at Jalan Telok Bunut in Banting.
Kuala Langat police chief, Superintendent Azizan Tukiman said Tew was about to enter his car after a drinking session with a friend at a shop in the Banting area when the gunman waylaid and tried to force him into a car.
He said when the man fired a shot at the road, Tew’s friend rushed out of the shop to confront him. “However, the gunman escaped in a car,” he said when contacted by Bernama.
He said the case was classified under the Firearms Act. — Bernama
