IPOH, Jan 25 ― Police arrested a businessman and seized firecrackers worth almost RM50,000 in a raid at Pasir Pinji yesterday.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Ali Tamby said investigators believe the firecrackers were to be sold for the upcoming Chinese New Year festival.
“We raided the suspect's home about 11pm acting on intelligence.
“We seized about 50 types of firecrackers, which were found in the living room, bedroom and also in the kitchen,” he responded via Whatsapp messenger.
Police believed the was a middleman who supplied the firecrackers to the suspect and efforts were underway to locate the man.
The case is being investigated under the Explosives Act 1957.
