KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 15 — The remand of actor Datuk Farid Kamil who allegedly slapped a police officer and assaulted two civilians has been extended for one more day.
The Petaling Jaya Magistrate Court granted the remand extension today, which means that Farid will be charged in court tomorrow morning.
Petaling Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zani Che Din confirmed the remand extension on the 37-year-old to allow investigations to be wrapped up.
Farid is being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for administration of drugs and Section 90 of the Police Act 1996 for acting indecently in a police station.
The actor is also being investigated under Section 323 and 353 of the Penal Code, for voluntarily causing hurt and for using criminal force to deter a public servant from carrying out his duties.
Clad in grey shirt, Farid arrived at the Petaling Jaya Magistrate Court for the remand proceeding around 11.30am today.
On Thursday, Farid was arrested after he allegedly slapped a front desk police officer who was taking details of a traffic accident report involving him and another person.
He also kicked two people at the police station that was witnessed by several others.
A urine test also confirmed the actor tested positive for marijuana at the time of the incident.
