JOHOR BARU, Jan 8 — The flood in Segamat has brought the number of affected residents to 17, comprising six families, with the second evacuation centre opened at Sekolah Agama Kuala Paya at 8.30am today.
Johor Health, Environment and Information Committee chairman Datuk Ayub Rahmat said seven people from two families were being sheltered at the second centre.
“They were evacuated when the water in Sungai Muar, Buloh Kasap rose to 8.9 metres exceeding the warning level of 8.53 metres,” he said in a statement.
He said 10 others from four families were currently staying at Sekolah Kebangsaan Balai Badang, which was opened on Jan 5.
According to him, the weather in the district was reported to be cloudy. — Bernama
