KUCHING, Jan 7 — Police have picked up a 34-year-old male bank officer and a female civil servant, 28, over their Facebook postings threatening to hurt the Sarawak Veterinary Services Department personnel recently.
State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) chief, Datuk Dev Kumar said a Padawan district CID team arrested the bank officer at 10.50am today at his house in BDC Stampin, here.
Dev Kumar said the suspect had posted a threat against the Sarawak Veterinary Services Department on a Facebook page championing stray dogs.
“The suspect had allegedly incited followers of the Facebook page to set up roadblocks and release the captured strays.
“He also suggested using extreme measures to prevent the operation by the department to capture the strays,” said Dev Kumar in a statement, here, today.
He said police also seized the mobile phone of the suspect, who was currently being detained for further investigation.
He added that the second Facebook user whom the police were earlier looking for, with her identity having been established, surrendered herself at the Kota Sentosa police station.
In her posting, the second suspect suggested killing of the personnel involved in the operation to catch stray dogs.
Her mobile phone was also seized and she is being detained for further investigation. — Bernama
