PETALING JAYA, Nov 2 ― A 21-year-old trader was sentenced to six months’ jail by the Magistrate’s Court here today after he pleaded guilty to punching a GrabCar driver.
Magistrate Zaki Asyraf Zubir handed down the sentence on Hong Wai Koong, after he pleaded guilty to voluntarily causing hurt on the 33-year-old victim in front of a hotel in Bandar Utama, Damansara, here at 3.55am on October 29.
Hong was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code which provides for a maximum jail term of one year or a fine of up to RM2,000 or both upon conviction.
According to the facts of the case, Hong punched the GrabCar driver after the latter refused to allow Hong and four friends into his car as they were drunk for fear they would vomit in the car. ― Bernama
