KUALA LUMPUR, May 26 ― Muslims in Malaysia will begin the Ramadan fasting from tomorrow.
The Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal Datuk Seri Syed Danial Syed Ahmad announced today that the date for the start of Ramadan fasting has been fixed for tomorrow (May 27) as decreed by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong after receiving the consent of the Malay rulers.
His announcement was broadcast live by Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) tonight.
Prior to this, Syed Danial in statement had stated that the date for the sighting of the new moon to determine the date for the start of Ramadan fasting by Muslims in Malaysia had been fixed for today.
The statement said the Conference of Rulers had agreed that the date for the start of Ramadan fasting would be determined via sighting of the new moon and astronomical calculations. ― Bernama
