KUALA LUMPUR, May 23 ― PAS information chief Nasrudin Hassan today took a swipe at Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for tarnishing the image of the Islamic party at the recent PKR national congress.
Nasrudin said Anwar’s speech, which was read by his daughter and PKR vice president Nurul Izzah Anwar wrongly claimed that PAS did not oppose GST and the rise in goods’ prices.
“Such allegations are untrue as PAS has always been consistent about rejecting the goods and services tax and increase in fuel and sugar prices,” he said in a statement.
In fact, Nasrudin pointed that it was Anwar, Nurul Izzah as well as PKR that supported the implementation of GST.
He said Nurul Izzah had last month posted in her blog that the implementation of GST should have not been done in a hurriedly manner.
Using this as a point in case, Nasrudin said this meant that Lembah Pantai MP and PKR were not against implementing the government tax in the future.
“Similarly, there has been reports that PAS leaders opposed a collaboration with Umno. Sadly, politicians from different parties are talking about this as if they represent PAS’ stand.
“And many are believing them,” Nasrudin said.
Anwar, on Sunday, had also flayed PAS and accused the party of being in cahoots with Umno long before it broke away from the main Opposition front.
