KUALA LUMPUR, May 15 — PKR’s political bureau will meet tomorrow to discuss PAS’ role in the Selangor government after the Islamist party cut ties last week.

The meeting is called by PKR deputy president and Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali after PAS’ Syura Council approved its party’s motions to end all political cooperation on May 11, The Star reported on its website today.

“I believe everything will be discussed during our weekly political bureau meeting,” PKR secretary-general Datuk Saifuddin Nasution Ismail was quoted telling reporters at its headquarters in Petaling Jaya.

He said he had been briefed by Azmin on the outcome of the latter’s meeting with PAS leaders last Friday as the party secretary-general, but was uncertain if the matter had been relayed to their president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

At a separate news conference at its headquarters in the national capital, PAS leaders said only the state Ruler has the authority to decide on the future of its three party representatives in the Selangor government, including ordering their resignation or sacking them.

The spotlight is now on the roles Datuk Iskandar Samad, Datuk Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi, and Zaidy Abdul Talib will play in the Selangor government in these last few months left of their term.

The 14th general elections are due to be called by June next year.
