SEREMBAN, April 5 — Negri Sembilan deputy police chief SAC Muhamad Zaki Harun confirmed the discovery of an object resembling a mortar bomb at Pasar Besar Seremban’s garbage site here, this morning.

“Yes, it’s an old bomb, normally used for training. It is not dangerous.

However, action has been taken by the Bomb Disposal Unit. Investigations will be carried out to find out from where it originated and how it came to be there,” he told Bernama in a brief statement on Whatsapp here, today.

He was responding to some pictures on WhatsApp about the discovery of the object resembling a mortar bomb at the Pasar Besar Seremban.

Meanwhile, Pasar Besar Seremban Traders Welfare Association chairman Koh Lee Giap said the object was found by employees of the cleaning company around 8.30am today.

“We informed the Seremban Municipal Council about it. They reported it to the police. Several policemen came here and cordoned off the area for a while,” he said.

The discovery, created panic among traders and the public, said Koh.

Checks by Bernama at 12.30pm today found the atmosphere at the market calm and traders carrying on with their business as usual. — Bernama
