KUALA LUMPUR, March 11 — Sabah opposition politician Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan said he has been denied entry into the neighbouring state of Sarawak.
The head of the STAR party and brother to former Sabah chief minister Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan told the Star Online news portal that he was stopped by Sarawak Immigration officials after he arrived from Kota Kinabalu this evening.
“I am still at the airport immigration. Apparently the directive come from the Sarawak government that came into effect in February this year,” he was quoted as saying in the report.
He then said he will be put on a plane back to Sabah tonight.
Sabah and Sarawak each have autonomy over immigration in their states and may bar entry to those the authorities deem undesirable.
