GEORGE TOWN, Feb 17 ― Two days after the Penang state government launched the “I love Penang” logo contest, Penang Gerakan joins the bandwagon with its own logo contest.

The state Opposition party launched a “Love Penang Save Penang” logo contest today.

Penang Gerakan vice-chairman Oh Tong Keong said this contest is to create awareness about the need to “save” Penang from issues the state is facing now.

“This is so that the people knows that to love Penang, we first need to save it from issues like hill clearing, floods, loss of heritage buildings, loss of foreign investment, lack of affordable housing, land reclamation, rising water tariff and traffic congestion,” he said.

Oh said the state government claimed to “love Penang” and yet had failed to resolve local issues like these.

“So we are organizing this contest to tell the people that to love Penang, we need to save it too,” he said.

Similar to the state's “I love Penang” logo contest, the contest opens today and offers cash prizes from RM100 for consolation to RM2,500 for the grand prize.

The contest is open until March 2 and those interested may obtain the forms at Penang Gerakan headquarters at 139, Macalister Road or email to [email protected].
