KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 18 — The police will set up a total of 58 road diversions in the national capital city from 7am tomorrow, in anticipation of a mass turnout for the Bersih 5 rally in the afternoon.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Amar Singh Ishar Singh stressed that there will not be any roadblocks for the rally that is predicted to take place in the vicinity of Dataran Merdeka.
He said seven main areas will be closed off to vehicles, to prevent them from entering areas where the demonstrations are likely to take place.
The areas include Dataran Merdeka, Maybank Bangsar, Brickfields, Chow Kit, Masjid Negara, Jalan Parlimen, and Sogo.
“The public are advised to avoid these key areas in the city centre tomorrow or use alternative routes,” Amar said.
“They could also use public transportation to get into the city centre,” he added.
