KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 24 — Kelantan lawmaker Datuk Husam Musa confirmed tonight the voluntary withdrawal of his US civil class action lawsuit jointly filed with lawyer Matthias Chang against Red Granite Pictures and its two co-founders.
News portal Malaysiakini reported the Opposition politician saying in a statement that the withdrawal was made in light of new developments to the case involving a recent joint application between the Hollywood film producer of the Wolf of Wall Street and the US Department of Justice to limit the account freeze on assets allegedly acquired with funds stolen from 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
Entertainment website The Hollywood Reporter reported both Husam and Chang voluntarily dropped their suit against Red Granite and its bosses Christopher Joey McFarland and Riza Shahriz Abdul Aziz, based on documents filed at a New York district court earlier today; but added that no reason was given for the withdrawal at that time.
