GEORGE TOWN, Sept 24 — The police detained 33 male foreigners for several immigration offences in the Timur Laut District here yesterday.

In the eight-hour operation codenamed ‘Op Pati’ beginning 3.30pm, the suspects aged between 22 and 42 were nabbed at construction sites, among others, when they were picked up.

Timur Laut police chief ACP Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said today, the operation was held in Jalan Burmah, Jalan Argyll, Lorong Abu Siti and Jalan C.  Y. Choy.

He said the foreigners, comprising 28 Bangladeshis, four Indonesians and a Myanmar did not have travel documents or work permits, had overstayed in the country and abused their social visit pass. — Bernama
