KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 6 — An accountant was killed when she was run over by her car while trying to prevent the machine from moving downhill at Jalan 28 in Salak South Baru this morning.
Goo Guan Yen, 40, died on the spot at 9.47am.
Initial police investigations revealed Goo had parked her Proton Iriz car by the steep road-shoulder and walked out to deliver items to her sister’s client nearby.
Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Legal staff officer DSP Shafie Daud said upon returning, she realised the car was moving backwards and tried to stop from behind.
“Goo was pinned under the car and died instantly,” he told Bernama here. He said neither closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras nor witnesses were at the scene at the time of the incident.
The body was sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL), adding the case was investigated under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department’s operations movement centre chief, Samsol Maarif Saibani said a six-man team managed to remove the body from under the car about 10.18am. — Bernama
