GEORGE TOWN, June 6 — Penang Hospital has the latest and more complete equipment to treat Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah who is suffering from an intestinal complication, said Penang Health director Datuk Dr Zailan Adnan.

She said a decision was made today by medical specialists and agreed to by family members for Ahmad Bashah to be transferred to Penang Hospital.

“I was informed today that Ahmad Bashah will be transferred to Penang Hospital and I immediately instructed my officers to make the arrangements to assist the process,” she told Bernama when contacted today.

It is learnt that Ahmad Bashah was brought in an ambulance to the Penang Hospital at 3.44pm from the Kedah Medical Centre in Alor Setar. He was accompanied by one of his daughters, Azira Hafiza.

Kedah State Secretary Datuk Bakar Din told a press conference yesterday that the menteri besar suffered from an intestinal complication but it was not serious and he was in stable condition.

Dr Zailan said the length of Ahmad Bashah’s stay at Penang Hospital would depend on an assessment by the specialists here.

She said Ahmad Bashah would receive appropriate treatment at the hospital and she hoped that he would have proper rest.

“Of course, we prefer strictly no visitors so that the patient can have proper rest while receiving treatment,” she said.

Ahmad Bashah was admitted to the KMC after he complained of dizziness while attending a meeting with Kedah state assemblymen at the Grand Alora Hotel at about 7pm on Saturday. — Bernama
