KUALA LUMPUR, April 27 ― Outgoing Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) Governor Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz says Datuk Muhammad Ibrahim's appointment as Governor is definitely positive for the country.

“Being part of our policy team at the bank will provide continuity and the much needed certainty in this prevailing period of great uncertainty,” she said in a statement issued late today.

Zeti said she had great confidence in Muhammad's ability to lead the Bank, going forward, into the future.

Current Deputy Governor Muhammad, 56, was appointed the new central bank  Governor for five-years, effective May 1, 2016.

He joined BNM in 1984 and was deputy Governor since June 2010. ― Bernama
