KUCHING, April 25 — DAP and PKR will face each other in multi-cornered fights in six state seats in the Sarawak election after both parties failed to reach a consensus on seat distributions.
PKR and DAP will face each other in the fight for the Batu Kitang, Mambong, Simanggang, Ngemah, Murum and Mulu state constituencies.
PKR national women vice head Voon Shiak Ni, who is contesting on a PKR ticket, said she was not surprised that such a situation had occurred.
“We are expecting it. There is no surprise,” she told Malay Mail Online later.
At the Padawan Municipal Council building, the venue for the nomination centre for Batu Kitang and Batu Kawah constituencies, DAP’s Aziz Isa Marido turned up to contest in Batu Kitang.
Apart from Voon and Aziz Isa, the other candidates contesting in Batu Kitang are Padawan Municipal Council chairman Lo Khere Chiang from the State Barisan Nasional and two independents Sulaiman Kadir and Datuk Seri Othman Bojeng, both businessmen.
In Mambong, PKR’s Willie Mongin and DAP’s Sanjan Daik are facing Datuk Dr Jerip Susil, the incumbent and assistant minister of public health.
PKR’s Nurina Umoi Utot will face Sarawak DAP vice chairman Leon Jimat Donald and assistant minister of rural development Datuk Francis Harden in Simanggang.
DAP’s Richard Lias and PKR’s Thomas Laja Besi will slug it out in Ngemah. The other candidates are Alexander Vincent of State Barisan Nasional and Joseph Jawa Kendawang, an independent.
The battle for Murum will be between DAP’s Mathew Silek, PKR’s Abun Sui Anyit, BN’s Chukpai Ugon and Stanley Ajang Batok, an independent.
DAP’s Dayak group leader Paul Raja will face activist Paul Baya of PKR, Federation of Orang Ulu Associations president Datuk Gerawat Gala, who is contesting on a BN ticket and dentist Dr Roland Dom Mattu, an independent.
