KOTA BARU, April 19 — The Kelantan Education Department confirmed that the hysteria incident, which had allegedly broken out at some schools in the state since last week, is under control.
Its deputy director Jaafar Ismail said continuous intervention measures at school and district levels involving the department officials had successfully addressed the issues.
There are only isolated cases involving students who are still weak but they still attend school, he told reporters here today.
“We are also confident that the school management will be able to follow the standard operating procedures in handling the case as they are more familiar with the students,” he said.
Jaafar refuted allegation that the incident had affected a large number of school students.
He also hoped that the matter would not be exaggerated to ensure that the incident would be addressed comprehensively and quickly.
Last week, 50 female students and teachers of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Pengkalan Chepa II were reportedly struck by hysteria. — Bernama
