SUNGAI BULOH, April 16 — The husband of Kamaljit Dorairaja, who was found murdered with her seven-month-old daughter on Thursday, has been remanded for seven days, as police attempt to establish the motive for the double murder.
Gombak police chief ACP Ali Ahmad said the husband was arrested on Thursday after he refused to cooperate with police.
“We have not gathered enough information yet.
“The husband was brought in for investigations as he declined to give us full cooperation and we are still checking his alibi,” he said.
Police are also checking closed-circuit television cameras in Taman Rawang Perdana where the crime took place.
Ali said investigations are also under way to determine whether a claimed robbery attempt was real or staged.
Statements from the victim’s family members and neighbours were currently being recorded, he added.
A sombre atmosphere hung over the Sungai Buloh Hospital mortuary waiting area as relatives of Kamaljit, who was fondly known as Neha, gathered to claim the bodies.
A relative, who requested anonymity, said he strongly believe the husband had nothing to do with the murder.
“They were such a loving couple and as far as we know, there were no problems in their relationship. “He is a good man and treats everyone well. He would never have done this.”
Neha’s elder sister, identified only as Rekha, said she did not find anything unusual going on when she last communicated with her sister a day before the incident.
Rekha said she was notified by her family members about the incident when she was in India.
