After mocking Guan Eng, Damansara Perdana cafe hails DAP leaders for ‘good humour’

KUALA LUMPUR, March 29 — Skohns Canteen, the Damansara Perdana eatery with a cheeky sense of humour, commended DAP leaders for rolling with their recent gibe on their secretary-general and Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.

In a posting on its Facebook page today, Skohns related how the DAP “top brass” had visited the cafe last night for a bite despite getting some bad press over their initial response to the “below market price” joshing.

“No press. No security. Just friendly people looking for a bite to eat.

“Very happy to find out that the guys and girls of DAP do have a sense of humour. And they also enjoyed the food. So good sense of humour and good taste in food,” it said, with a double thumbs up emoticon at the end.

It also featured snaps of a multicultural group of DAP leaders who dined at the outlet, not least the man who started it all: Guan Eng.

Also seen in the pictures with Guan Eng’s father, DAP parliamentary leader and Gelang Patah MP Lim Kit Siang.

Skohns Canteen said it treats all its customers as VIPs (very important persons) regardless of political allegiance once.

Skohns Canteen drew the party’s eye when it posted an advertisement with the line ‘Good Food, Below Market Price’ in a veiled reference to claims Guan Eng had bought his RM2.8 million double-storey standalone house in land-strapped Penang for cheaper than market forces would indicate.

DAP soon wrote to the owner requesting a removal of the purportedly offending line, earning a chiding from some Facebook users who challenged party leaders to visit the cafe and just take the joke in their stride.

Guan Eng is currently under a corruption investigation over his RM2.8 million purchase of his house on Jalan Pinhorn in George Town. He has repeatedly denied the allegations.
