KUALA LUMPUR, March 26 ― New Petronas (Petroliam Nasional Berhad) adviser Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi wants to take Petronas to a higher level.

The former prime minister said he appreciated the appointment and thanked Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak for the trust placed in him.

“I thank the Prime Minister and the Malaysian government on my appointment as Petronas adviser,” he said in a statement last night.

The Cabinet yesterday decided to appoint Abdullah as Petronas adviser, effective April 1, replacing Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad whose tenure was terminated on March 11.
