KUALA LUMPUR, March 22 ― Putrajaya today tabled a supplementary supply bill seeking an additional RM3.3 billion, most of which is intended for statutory funds.
Of the total amount request, RM2.3 billion will be channelled toward statutory funds, with RM240 million designated for the State Reserve Fund to “assist states facing a management account deficit and cash show problems,” with another RM2.09 billion iearmarked for development.
Another RM575 million for the Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Ministry will be used for the solid waste management in seven states which are currently in the process of being privatise.
Another RM132 million is meant for the Foreign Ministry to help with the “operation costs for Malaysian representatives abroad” due to the decline in the ringgit.
RM50 million was also requested for the Prime Minister’s Department to facilitate the “operation costs” by the Civil Defence Department (JPAM) following its move into the Home Ministry while RM58 million will be allocated to the Transport Ministry to help with the search for missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.
The Education Ministry’s budget also requested an additional RM125 million to finance the maintenance of government schools.
