KUALA LUMPUR, March 17 ― DAP's Tony Pua said today he is not sure if he is a suspect or a witness in a police probe from last year regarding the leak of documents in a case involving Sarawak Report editor Clare Rewcastle-Brown and former PetroSaudi International (PSI) director Xavier Andre Justo.

The Petaling Jaya Utara MP demanded that Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi give clearer answers on the matter, saying the uncertainty has affected his travel plans to and from the country.

“What type of answer is this? Am I a suspect or a witness now?

“Why is the answer is like this? The Home Minister must respond. If I am suspect since September last year, why no further action?” he asked during a press conference at the Dewan Rakyat lobby.

In a written reply, Ahmad Zahid had said that since Pua's case fell under Section 124B of the Penal Code for committing activities “detrimental to parliamentary democracy”, details on the case cannot be revealed as it involved national security and still is under police probe.

Pua, however, claimed that he was told by the authorities last year during his investigation that he was merely brought in as a witness.

This was despite the fact that he was put on a no-fly list, he added.

“Be specific, if I have done wrong, say I have done wrong. There is no reason to put anything on me if I'm just a witness,” he said.

Pua was hauled up last year for questioning over his alleged relationship with Rewcastle-Brown and Justo in a probe on the leak of documents linked to PSI’s dealings with 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
