KUALA LUMPUR, March 16 — Barisan Nasional Backbenchers Club (BNBBC) chief Tan Sri Shahrir Samad is confident that Putrajaya will resolve controversies dogging it such as the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) and the RM2.6 billion donation before the next general elections.
He said there was still roughly two years before the next national polls are due, allowing time for the government to address the matters.
“I am confident it (1MDB) won’t be an issue. In fact, I think the most important thing is to wait for the PAC report. We will be going in very strong for PRU14,” he told reporters outside the Dewan Rakyat today referring to the 14th General Elections.
The Johor Baru MP also said he was positive that BN will win more seats in the next election and has been working to fortify the elections mechanism all this while.
He said all the coalition needed to was to ensure that it kept the pledges it made during the last election.
“People have been talking about how this country has become a failed state but it is not true. Look at your media industry, how many people are employed now? So you see it is as dynamic as before and continues to be progressing well,” he further added referring to reporters.
Shahrir also stressed the most important thing for BN to keep doing now is to improve the party machinery ahead of the next elections in order to be prepared for any eventual issues.
