PETALING JAYA, March 3 — The New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) stretch from Bukit Lanjan to Shah Alam will be closed on March 13 for a charity run.
PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) managing director Datuk Noorizah Abdul Hamid said the route would be closed starting from 12.30 am on March 13 to 10 am for a charity run in conjunction with the 50th anniversary celebration of UEM Group Berhad.
The closure involves interchanges at Subang, Damansara, Kota Damansara and a section of Bukit Lanjan-Shah Alam stretch, she told a press conference at PLUS (M) Sdn Bhd here yesterday.
She said motorists should use alternative routes and plan their journeys during the duration of the expressway closure.
“Users from the north wishing to go to ELITE Highway, Seremban and other destinations south need to exit the North-South Expressway at the Rawang South interchange and use the Guthrie Highway before joining the ELITE Highway via the Shah Alam toll plaza,” she said.
She said more than 250 policemen, Rela volunteers and Projek Penyelenggaraan Lebuhraya Berhad (Propel) personnel would be coordinating and controlling traffic at the alternative routes apart from looking after the safety of 6,000 race participants.
Meanwhile, UEM Group managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Izzaddin Idris said the charity run which would be held for the first time had received participation of 6,000 runners to date.
The charity run will also be held in Kangar, Perlis on May 29 and Iskandar Puteri, Johor on Aug 6, he said and added that the company was considering to hold the run as an annual event following the encouraging response.
Members of the public can participate in the event by registering at www.myraceonline.com until this Saturday.
Participants are advised to park their vehicles at the Paradigm shopping centre, Kelana Jaya Stadium and Kelana Business Centre. — Bernama
