PETALING JAYA, Jan 28 — A policeman suspected of drug abuse yielded more than his colleagues could have ever expected when they went to bust him in a police quarters in Kuala Langat on Tuesday.
Besides drug paraphernalia, officers from Bukit Aman Integrity and Standard Compliance Department found a woman sitting on his bed, 112 bullets and a cannibalised motorcycle during the raid at 9am.
A source said the 23-year-old woman admitted to being the suspect’s girlfriend.
Police found two boxes containing the live bullets from a cupboard in the room.
“There were 89 9mm bullets, along with 23 rounds of .38 Special bullets, which were being kept without permission,” the source said.
The source claimed the seized bullets were to be sold on the black market.
There was also a cannibalised motorcycle in one of the rooms, which was later found to be part of police evidence for a case in Klang.
“There were writings on the motorcycle that resembled police records, while its engine and registration plate were missing,” the source said.
The suspect tested positive for amphetamine when he was screened. Police seized eight bottles, a syringe and a lighter believed to be used to consume the drug.
The source said the suspect and his girlfriend were referred to the Religious Department for investigations for khalwat (close proximity), and the policeman would also be investigated for drug abuse, and for possession of ammunition and case evidence without permission.
Kuala Langat police chief Supt Zailan Tasir, who confirmed the case, said investigations were ongoing.
He said the raid followed several months of observation on the suspect, following allegations of drug abuse.
“The suspect was known as a polite and friendly officer. I am surprised and disappointed to find out about these allegations,” he said.
