JOHOR BARU, Jan 9 — Police seized six imitation pistols and arrested a plumber at a house in Jalan Sutera 3, Taman Sentosa here for allegedly selling the firearms through Facebook and WeChat, last night.

Johor CID chief SAC Kamarul Zaman Mamat said the 22-year-old local man was arrested at about 10.30pm after police received information on the firearms sale activity.

“In addition to the six replica pistols, police also confiscated two mobile phones and a Honda CRV car along with a bunch of keys from the man,” he said in a statement here today.

Kamarul Zaman said investigations revealed that the price of an imitation pistol was estimated to be between RM700 to RM1,600 and the suspect who is married had been active for the past two years.

He said the man had previously been detained under Section 6 of the Firearms Act (Increased Penalties) Act 1971 two years ago and had been lying low before making a comeback at the end of last year.

He said the suspect was being remanded for four days from today to help in  investigations. — Bernama
