KAJANG, Jan 5 — The Magistrate’s Court has fixed Feb 2 for case mention of three men charged with kidnapping a five-year-old boy for a ransom of RM300,000 in October last year.

Magistrate Abdul Jalil Muhamad Salam set the date after Deputy Public Prosecutor Amira Abdul Aziz said the prosecution needed time to study the case before transferring it to the High Court.

Businessman Siow Kek Keong, 44, Indonesian labourer Riduansyah Yahya, 32, and lorry driver Mohd Saifulamry Jarkasi, 28, were jointly charged with unlawful confinement of the boy, who is the son of a building contractor.

They are alleged to have committed the offence at Jalan Seroja near house number 4, Taman Setia, Sungai Chua, at 9.26am on Oct 9, 2015 have been charged under Section 3(1) of the Kidnapping Act 1961 which carries the death penalty or life imprisonment and caning, upon conviction.

No plea was recorded from the three accused as the case is under the jurisdiction of the High Court. — Bernama
