KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 30 — Bukit Aman is hopeful of meeting former PetroSaudi International executive Xavier Andre Justo this week, national police chief Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said today.
Malaysian police have been seeking to interview the jailed Swiss national the past few months in connection with their investigation on attempts by “certain individuals or parties” to topple the Barisan Nasional federal government through undemocratic means.
"We need to make some last minute arrangement. Expect to meet him this week," the Inspector-General of Police told a news conference here, when was asked when the police will send a team to meet Justo who is currently held in Thailand.
Khalid has promised several times last month to send a probe team from Bukit Aman to Bangkok to investigate Justo's claim of having met with Malaysian opposition politicians to sell classified information.
The 49-year-old Swiss national was arrested by Thai police on June 22 after PetroSaudi International lodged a police report that he had blackmailed the company, which had established a joint venture with 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
Justo was sentenced to three years in jail by a Thai court on August 17 after pleading guilty to blackmailing his former employer.
