GEORGE TOWN, Nov 17 — Penang State Legislative Assembly opposition chief Datuk Jahara Hamid has hit out at RSN Rayer (DAP-Seri Delima) for continuing to discuss issues of 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) in the debate at the state legislative assembly sitting.

She said the DAP representative has been raising irrelevant issues when he should be focusing on local issues for the benefit of state residents.

“We are here to discuss the 2016 state budget. We all know the 1MDB issue is still under investigation. What we have be discussing here are only assumptions...it will not bring us anywhere,” she said when intercepting the debate on the 2016 Supply Bill at the state assembly, here today.

In the debate, Rayer raised issues on 1MDB including the sales of land in Bukit Gelugor.

Jahara, who is the state assemblyman for Teluk Air Tawar, said the statement by Rayer on IMDB were serious allegations and provocations.

“Everybody knows the 1MDB issue, we should wait for the results of the investigation. We all want explanations. But it is not our problem to discuss the matter at the assembly now,” she said.

Datuk Mohd Zain Ahmad (BN-Penaga) also stood up to say the issues raised by the representative for Seri Delima were irrelevant to the 2016 Supply Bill.

He said considerable time had been allocated to Rayer to debate but he did not touch anything on the problems of the people in the state.

“I think it’s time for the deputy speaker (Maktar Shapee) to make a decision to allow the representative for Seri Delima to continue to debate or not,” he said.

Maktar later reprimanded Rayer and ordered him to discuss relevant issues. — Bernama
