KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 9 — Police have detained two men and a woman who is also the mother of a two-year-old girl believed to have been abused to death at a condominium in Wangsa Maju here on Friday.
Wangsa Maju District Police chief Supt Mohamad Roy Suhaimi Sariff said one of the men is also the stepfather of the victim.
He said the suspects aged between 28 and 35 were nabbed following a report that the toddler suffered bruises on her head believed to have been inflicted with a blunt object, and other parts of her body including her anus.
Mohamad Roy said the victim who lived with her stepfather was said to have vomited and lost consciousness before being sent to Kuala Lumpur Hospital. The child was confirmed dead the same day.
“The mother left the victim who is her second child, with her husband two weeks ago and seldom visited her,” he told a media conference here today.
He said the victim’s mother and stepfather married in June but had been living separately. “The woman was suffering from stress and trauma following a miscarriage.”
Mohamad Roy said police were also looking for the first wife of the victim’s stepfather who is believed to be in Melaka to assist in the investigation.
“The full post mortem report would likely be completed in two days’ time. The victim’s father came to the hospital after being informed by his ex-wife and lodged a police report after finding out about his daughter’s condition.
“All the suspects have been remanded from yesterday until Saturday under Section 302 of the Penal Code,” he said. — Bernama
