TAPAH — Investigations into the gruesome murders of four people in a house-cum-workshop here is close to completion, said the police.
Tapah police chief Supt Som Sak Din Keliaw said: “It is almost done. We are close to wrapping up the investigations on all four suspects.”
He said police are expected to charge the suspects in court soon.
The prime suspects in the case, a 57-year-old mechanic and his 20-year-old son, were taken to the crime scene again yesterday.
A police team led by Som Sak then searched the area for about an hour and seized a petrol pump, two spanners and an object resembling a lorry jack.
Som Sak reaffirmed that there were only four victims in the case, adding that the mechanic’s two daughters did not report any abuse while living with the family.
The two daughters, believed to be aged 23 and 11, have been placed under the temporary custody of the Welfare Department.
They are not staying in the same facility, as one had been placed in Ipoh while the other was in Kuala Kangsar, Som Sak said.
He said the welfare of the family’s pet dogs was also being attended. Over 20 dogs have been seen in the vicinity and had not been fed since their owners were taken into police custody.
“I will speak to the Tapah district council and ask them to seek help from animal welfare groups who are interested in taking care of or feeding the dogs. “We can also bring the suspect’s eldest daughter to the house so she can feed them,” he said.
