KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 13 — Parti Amanah Negara today rejected claims that it is funded by DAP, with party secretary-general Anuar Tahir saying it will never accept money from its ally in the opposition bench.
Anuar said the allegations were false and intended to depict Amanah as being controlled by the DAP.
"It is so untrue, claims that we are being funded by the DAP. Even if they (DAP) want to give us money we will not accept," he told a news conference here at Amanah's headquarters.
Anuar said that 30 of Amanah's top leaders each supplied RM40,000 to kickstart the party's operations.
The PKR-DAP-Amanah pact was formed last month as a fresh opposition front to go against the might of the 13-party Barisan Nasional that has ruled since Independence in 1957.
The previous pact known as Pakatan Rakyat collapsed earlier this year after DAP and PAS became hostile.
The row with DAP and an increasingly conservative stand also led to a breakaway faction styling itself as moderate Islamist and which subsequently became Amanah.
