KOTA KINABALU, Oct 11 — A man wanted by police for his alleged involvement in robberies at 24-hour convenience stores was nabbed at an unnumbered house in Kampung Kurnia Jaya Apas, Tawau at about 9pm, yesterday.
Kota Kinabalu City police chief ACP M.Chandra said the suspect believed to be the leader of the ‘Abel Gang’ is believed to have been involved in six robberies in the city in early September and also wanted by Tawau police for similar criminal activities in July.
“The suspect identified as Amiruddin Abdullah @ Abel, 23, was arrested in a raid conducted by the Tawau police after a tip-off from the public,” he said in a statement issued today.
The suspect would be taken to Kota Kinabalu for further investigations in connection with robberies in the city and Penampang, after Tawau police have completed their investigations, he added.
Yesterday, Kota Kinabalu police had issued an appeal for information to track down two criminals believed to be involved in robberies in Kota Kinabalu and Penampang. — Bernama
