PETALING JAYA, Oct 2 — A woman on a pink scooter daringly rammed her motorcycle into three traffic policemen in a bid to save her partner-in-crime who was being arrested for theft.
Police have launched a hunt for her while her accomplice is being held.
Kuala Lumpur traffic police chief ACP Mohd Nadzri Hussain said the incident near a secondary girls’ school in Jalan Pudu, Cheras, on Tuesday had left one of the policemen seriously injured.
“The three officers were on their routine crime patrol when they spotted the woman’s accomplice, a man aged 32, trying to break into a parked Proton Wira,” Nadzri said.
“When the suspect saw the officers, he tried to escape and it resulted in a scuffle.”
The woman on the scooter sped towards the officers and rammed into them when she saw her partner in trouble.
“The policemen detained the male suspect but the woman escaped on her scooter,” Nadzri said.
The suspect was handed over to Dang Wangi police and is under police remand.
Nadzri said the officer sustained injuries on his hips and thighs.
Police found several items believed to be used for car theft, including a plier, screwdriver and helmet.
A police source said police were studying closed-circuit television footage to determine the scooter’s registration number and the woman’s escape route.
He said the case was classified as obstructing a public servant from carrying out his duty, theft and voluntarily causing hurt.
