KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 21 — Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) president Mohamad Sabu today was questioned by the police over his involvement in the 34-hour Bersih 4 rally last month.
Speaking to reporters outside the Dang Wangi police station, Mohamad said the 20-minute questioning went well and without any trouble.
"The police took my statements on my participation to Bersih 4. Asked me on the rally. Questioning went well and we will wait whether any charges would come later," he said.
Mohamad added that he is being investigated under Section 4 (2)(c) of Peaceful Assembly Act for participating and organising a street protest.
Police have so far taken statements from a string of politicians and civil society leaders in connection to the 34-hour Bersih 4 rally, including PKR’s Chua Tian Chang.
Statements were also taken from members of the steering committee of rally organisers Bersih 2.0, while former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is being investigated for defaming Umno when he attended the rally.
The Bersih 4 rally was held late last month to demand the resignation of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak over his connection to the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal.
