KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 9 — Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will be attending today’s Umno supreme council meeting, the first to be held since the July Cabinet reshuffle, an aide has confirmed.
"Ya, he (Muhyiddin) is attending," the aide told Malay Mail Online today when contacted.
The aide refused, however, to comment further if there would be fireworks expected from Muhyiddin's camp over his sudden boot from the federal Cabinet.
The Cabinet reshuffle in July saw Muhyiddin and Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal losing their posts purportedly for airing critical views on the government’s handling of the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) controversy.
Umno's top leaders will meet later today for the first time since the axing after the initial meeting was postponed in July.
Prior to today’s meeting at the Putra World Trade Center (PWTC), rumours have been swirling over the possibility that both Muhyiddin and Shafie may be sacked from the party.
Asked yesterday to comment on the rumours, Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin said he was “100 per cent certain” that today’s meeting would not result in any sacking.
