JITRA, Aug 6 ― “I refuse to accept the latest information on the discovery of the plane's debris on Reunion Island,” said Jee Teik Min, whose son Jing Han, 42, was on the plane.
Teik Min, 76, when met at his home, said the physical evidence discovered in the form of a flaperon was still insufficient to confirm that the aircraft had crashed.
“We have been waiting for over a year and as long as the body of at least one of the 239 people on board is not found, I refuse to believe that the plane had crashed,” he told the media, here, today.
Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing disappeared from the radar on March 8, 2014 with 239 passengers and crew.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak announced early this morning that experts gathered in the French city of Toulouse had conclusively confirmed that the aircraft's wing fragment found on Reunion Island was from MH370.
Teik Min said, the loss of his son took a tremendous toll on his family as Jing Han was the family's breadwinner.
Jing Han, a widower with two children, aged 12 and 14 years, worked as a computer programmer and had his own company in Seremban.
“We miss him dearly, he had been supporting us all this while,” said Teik Min, adding that for him and his wife, Tan Giat Hua, 69, not a day went by without thinking of their son.
A relative, Fong Ah Yuk, 60, said she was sad to see the condition of the family, as they were still waiting and hoping for positive news from the government.
She hopes the government will continue its search efforts until the main part of the aircraft is found and ultimately unravel the mystery of the air tragedy. ― Bernama
